Q SIGNALS

Although used for CW, sometimes you will hear "Q Signals" used at public service events by radio operators.  Q Signals were designed to shorten certain questions and answers by using standardized abbreviations.  

I've included the most commonly heard Q Signals for your information. 

(There's nothing worse than not understanding what someone is asking you in "Q" and being too embarrassed to ask!)

QSL    Can you acknowledge receipt?

QSO    Can you communicate with me?

QSY    Shall I change frequency?

QTH    What is your location?
