Monthly Member Meetings

Monthly meetings of the Dallas Amateur Radio Club occur on the First Tuesday of Each Month, with the EXCEPTION of our JANUARY 2013 MEETING. OUR JANUARY MEETING WILL BE HELD ON WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 2nd in Building "X", Room X2007, Brookhaven College, 3939 Valley View Lane, Dallas, TX 75244.  The Board Meeting starts at 6 PM and the General Meeting starts at 7 PM.

Meeting Location is Building "X", Room X2007, Brookhaven College, 3939 Valley View Lane, Dallas, TX 75244. A more detailed map to Building "X", Adjacent Parking, and Room Locations is available online.

Be advised that Brookhaven Campus Police closely enforce the 10 MPH speed limit, including the parking lots.

Meetings start at 7:00 p.m. and usually last until around 8:30 p.m.

Each monthly meeting is broken down into 2 sections. The program is held first -- this is so that a presenter isn't forced to sit through the club's business.  These can vary from a Fox Hunt to an Old-Timers program, where we hear from the club Elmers on anything from technical questions to good 'ol Ham stories.

The club business meeting is next, where all new club business is brought before the members to discuss and vote on, as well as any new member applications that are needed to be acted upon. Finally, any new or old business is discussed and the meeting is adjourned.

These monthly meetings are a great way to get out and meet other Amateur Radio enthusiasts in our area! We welcome newcomers to the club

Monthly Board meetings of the Dallas Amateur Radio Club are now at 6:00p.m. the first Tuesday of the month, BEFORE the Regular Club Member Meeting.  If necessary, that meeting will continue immediately after the Club Meeting.

Meeting Location is Building "X", Room X2007, Brookhaven College, 3939 Valley View Lane, Dallas, TX 75244. A more detailed map to the "X" Building, Close Parking, and Room Locations is available online.

Echolink

Meeting on the Air (MOTA)

-- 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month at 7PM --

 

"Meeting on the Air" (MOTA) is the DARC Information Net.  It is conducted the first and third Sunday of every month at 7PM (after the NTS net) and concludes at 8PM (before the RACES net).  Any licensed amateur may check into the net either through the 2-meter repeater 146.880 MHz- (PL 110.9), Echolink (see below), or via chat UStream.

  • New Officers and Directors

Instructions for Echolink

To log into the Echolink "Meeting on the Air", please do the following.

  1. Find a good microphone headset and install on your PC.
  2. Check your audio levels on record and playback.  VU deflection should be better than 75% but not more than 100% on peaks.
  3. Check Echolink audio levels on *Echotest* group.  Also, make sure your connection produces a solid (no audio breakup) on playback.
  4. Log into W5FC-R (Node 37247) - you can pick either the node number or the callsign to locate the stream.  Once connected wait for direction from net control to acknowledge Echolink check-ins.
  5. Allow 2 seconds after selecting transmit before speaking.  Echolink must encode - transmit - and decode audio.

If you cannot connect to W5FC-R  That connection uses a different IP connection.

Ustream

Don't have Echolink and outside the DARC repeater area? Check-in via UStream.

UStream Web Portal

The UStream Web Portal archives previous MOTA's.  You can view the entire webcam stream and listen to actual on air audio.  A chat section is available if you aren't licensed, or cannot log into the W5FC repeater.

We will list you as a check-in, just let us know in the chat session who you are, callsign (if you have one) and any comments you have for the net.
